Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

4 slices of beef bacon

1 medium onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

4 slices of American cheese

4 hoagie rolls

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Optional: Sliced jalapeños for heat

Optional: Lettuce and tomatoes for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Beef Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the beef bacon until crispy. Once done, remove from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain excess fat.

Sauté the Veggies: In the same skillet, add olive oil and toss in the diced onions and green bell peppers. Sauté until they soften, about 4-5 minutes.

Brown the Ground Beef: Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 7-10 minutes.

Add Cheese: Once the beef is browned, mix in the sautéed vegetables. Lay the slices of American cheese over the beef mixture and cover the skillet for a few minutes until the cheese melts.

Prepare the Hoagie Rolls: While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls open without cutting all the way through. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if you want toasted rolls.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Once the cheese has melted, spoon the beef mixture evenly into each hoagie roll. Top with crispy beef bacon and, if desired, sliced jalapeños for extra heat.

Toast the Rolls (Optional): If you want a warm, toasty sandwich, place the filled hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for about 5-10 minutes, or until the rolls are golden and crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with lettuce and tomatoes if desired. Serve immediately while hot.
