Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, parsley, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Use your hands or a spatula to mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as the meatballs may become tough.

Shape the Meatballs: Use a cookie scoop or your hands to form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are spaced apart.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown on the outside.

Heat the Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until simmering.

Combine: Once the meatballs are done, carefully add them to the warm marinara sauce. Let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Serve: Garnish the meatballs with fresh basil leaves. You can serve them over pasta, on sub rolls for meatball sandwiches, or on their own with some crusty bread for dipping.
