Ingredients

4 large croissants

8 slices of deli ham (preferably smoked or honey ham)

8 slices of Swiss or Gruyère cheese

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves or 1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked, crumbled bacon (for a crispy texture, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice each croissant in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom.

Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the inside of each croissant half. If desired, add a drizzle of honey for a hint of sweetness.

Layer 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of cheese on the bottom half of each croissant. If you're using bacon, sprinkle it on at this stage.

Season with a pinch of salt, pepper, and a few thyme leaves.

Place the top half of the croissant back on and gently press down.

Brush the tops of the croissants with melted butter and sprinkle with any remaining thyme leaves.

Arrange the filled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the melty, savory goodness!
