Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, minced

¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons beef broth (or water)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish

Instructions

In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, beef broth, sesame oil, and sugar. This will be your marinade for the beef.

Add the sliced flank steak to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for deeper flavor).

While the beef is marinating, bring a pot of water to boil. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then quickly transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef slices in a single layer. Sear until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Return the cooked beef to the skillet, along with the blanched broccoli. Pour any remaining marinade over the mixture and stir-fry everything together for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the broccoli is heated through.

Serve the beef and broccoli mixture over a bed of jasmine rice, garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
