Ingredients

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

½ cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)

½ cup granulated sugar, divided

1 large egg

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

½ teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2-3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

A pinch of salt (for glaze)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it's foamy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture.

In another bowl, sift the flour, salt, and ground cinnamon together. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).

Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 1-inch thick slices to create individual rolls.

Heat oil in a deep fryer or a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry each doughnut roll for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown, ensuring you do not overcrowd the pan.

Remove them from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until smooth. Dip the warm doughnuts in the glaze and allow it to set for a few minutes.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours | Servings: 12 doughnuts

                        - Presentation Tips: Arrange the glazed doughnuts on a colorful platter and sprinkle some extra cinnamon or edible glitter on top for a festive touch. Serve warm with a side of fresh fruit or whipped cream for an extra treat!
