Ingredients

1 ½ cups warm water (110°F - 115°F)

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 tbsp granulated sugar

4 cups all-purpose flour

½ cup unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)

1 tsp kosher salt

½ cup baking soda

1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Coarse sea salt, for topping

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a medium bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and kosher salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Let it Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Prepare Baking Soda Solution: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.

Shape Pretzel Bites: Punch down the risen dough and turn it onto a floured surface. Roll out the dough into a long rope (about 1-inch thick). Cut into 1-inch pieces.

Boil the Pretzel Bites: Boil the pretzel bites in batches for 30 seconds each. Using a slotted spoon, remove them and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Apply Egg Wash & Sprinkle Salt: Brush each pretzel bite with the beaten egg. Sprinkle coarse sea salt on top for added flavor.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Add Butter: Once baked, brush the pretzel bites with melted butter while still warm for that buttery finish.

Serve & Enjoy! Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauces, such as mustard or cheese dip.
