Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

3/4 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until evenly combined.

Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Mix in the shredded cheddar cheese until distributed throughout the dry mixture.

Pour in the buttermilk, and using a spatula, gently fold the mixture until just combined; do not overmix. The dough should be slightly sticky.

Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You can also use a cookie scoop for more uniform sizes.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

While the biscuits are baking, melt 1/4 cup of butter and mix in a pinch of garlic powder and some chopped parsley.

When the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and brush the garlic butter mixture generously on top of each biscuit.

Garnish with additional chopped parsley, if desired. Serve warm.
