1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, making sure it's evenly distributed throughout the dry mixture.

In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and melted butter together until well combined.

Pour the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

Pour the biscuit batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Bake the biscuits for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

If desired, toss the chopped chives into the melted butter and brush it over the hot biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven for an added flavor boost.

Allow the biscuits to cool slightly before serving.
