Ingredients

1 lb (450g) refrigerated pizza dough

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/4 cup pesto sauce

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Sea salt, to taste

1/4 cup flour, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut the dough into a triangle shape, resembling a Christmas tree. The base should be wider than the top.

Layer the Filling: Spread a thin layer of pesto over the triangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly over the pesto. Add a sprinkle of garlic powder and Italian seasoning for extra flavor.

Shape the Tree: Starting from the base of the triangle, carefully fold the dough over the cheese, pinching the edges to seal. Cut small slits along the edges to mimic branches, being careful not to cut all the way through.

Brush with Egg Wash: Transfer the shaped tree onto the lined baking sheet. Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a beautiful golden color when baked.

Add Garnish: For a festive touch, sprinkle with chopped fresh basil and a bit of sea salt.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve Warm: Allow the Cheesy Christmas Tree Bread to cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice it up and enjoy it warm with extra pesto or marinara sauce for dipping.
