Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup cooked ground beef or turkey (optional for a meaty version)

1 can (15 oz) chili (no beans preferred)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)

2 green onions, chopped

Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare the fries: Wash and scrub the potatoes thoroughly. Cut them into evenly-sized wedges or strips, ensuring they cook evenly.

Season the fries: In a large bowl, toss the potato wedges with vegetable oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

Bake the fries: Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.

Heat the chili: While the fries are baking, warm the chili in a saucepan over medium heat. If using ground beef or turkey, mix it into the chili until heated through.

Build the dish: Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven and place them on a serving platter or individual plates. Generously ladle the warm chili over the fries.

Add cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the chili. If desired, pop the plate back in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese melts beautifully.

Garnish and serve: Top with dollops of sour cream, sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, and fresh cilantro. Serve immediately and enjoy the cheesy, spicy goodness!
