1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

1 tbsp cracked black pepper

1 tbsp coarse sea salt

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

½ tsp smoked paprika

4 slices of American cheese (or cheese of choice)

4 burger buns (toasted)

¼ cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 large tomato, sliced

Dill pickle slices

Optional: crispy bacon strips

Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cracked black pepper, sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain tenderness.

    Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up when cooking.

      Cook the Patties: Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties to the pan. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired doneness.

        Add Cheese: In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.

          Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Set aside.

            Assemble the Burgers: Spread a generous amount of the sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and dill pickles. If using, add crispy bacon before placing the top half of the bun.
