Ingredients

3 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

Cooking spray

Optional: Caramel sauce or honey for dipping

Instructions

Begin by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Wash and core the apples, then cut them into thin fry-like strips, approximately 1/4-inch thick.

In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar until well combined.

In another bowl, beat the eggs until they are fully mixed and slightly frothy.

Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl. If desired, you can add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the breadcrumbs for added flavor.

Dredge each apple strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Then dip into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess egg to drip off, before finally coating them in breadcrumbs. Make sure they are well coated at each step.

Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding. If necessary, cook in batches.

Lightly spray the apple fries with cooking spray to promote crispiness.

Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Once done, remove from the air fryer and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serve warm with caramel sauce or honey for dipping, if desired.
