Ingredients

1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets)

200g sliced ham

200g shredded cheddar cheese

100g cream cheese, softened

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Freshly cracked pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth out any creases. Cut each sheet into squares, about 4x4 inches. You should have around 16 squares.

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and a dash of cracked pepper until well blended.

Take one square of puff pastry and spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture over it.

Layer with 1-2 slices of ham and a generous handful of shredded cheddar cheese.

Place another square of puff pastry on top, pressing down lightly to seal the layers. Repeat this process with the remaining squares, making a total of 8 stacks.

Brush the tops of each stack with the beaten egg for a gorgeous golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the stacks are puffy and golden brown.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly before garnishing with chopped fresh parsley.
