Ingredients

12 mozzarella string cheese sticks

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably seasoned)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray or vegetable oil (for frying)

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Preparation: First, cut each mozzarella stick in half to create 24 shorter sticks. Place them in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up. This will help them hold their shape while frying.

Setup Breading Station: In three separate shallow bowls, prepare your breading station. In the first bowl, place the flour. In the second bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined. In the third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Coat the Cheese Sticks: Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer. Take one stick and dip it into the flour, ensuring it is fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Dip in Egg: Next, dip the floured stick into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.

Cover with Breadcrumbs: Finally, roll the stick in the seasoned breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs well. Repeat this process for all the cheese sticks.

Fry the Sticks: In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the pan, making sure not to overcrowd. Fry for about 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain Excess Oil: Remove the mozzarella sticks from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Serve: Serve the mozzarella sticks warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy these delicious treats with family and friends!
