1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt and pepper to taste

Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

    In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

      Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes if using.

        Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir in the lemon zest and half of the Gruyère cheese, mixing well until melted and combined.

          Transfer the shrimp and sauce mixture into a lightly greased baking dish.

            In a small bowl, combine the remaining Gruyère cheese, breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated.

              Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the shrimp and cream layer in the baking dish to create an even topping.

                Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

                  Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.
