Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced

4 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 tablespoons sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and black pepper. Marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef (discard any excess marinade) and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the sesame oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and continue to stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.

Return the beef to the skillet and toss everything together for an additional 2 minutes, ensuring the beef is heated through and coated with the sauce.

Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then remove from heat.

Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry hot over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with sesame seeds or sliced green onions if desired.
