Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed

6 ounces sliced ham

6 ounces shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for garnish)

Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley, optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a rectangle, about 12x14 inches.

Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Layer the sliced ham evenly over the mustard, followed by the shredded cheese.

Begin rolling the puff pastry tightly from one long edge to the other, ensuring the fillings stay inside.

Once fully rolled, use a sharp knife to slice the roll into 1-inch pinwheels.

Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they're spaced evenly apart.

Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg to give them a nice golden color during baking.

If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top of the egg wash for added texture and flavor.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.

Optional: Garnish with fresh herbs after they come out of the oven for a vibrant touch.
