Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 green bell pepper, diced

1 can (15 oz) pizza sauce

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini work well)

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup sliced pepperoni

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh basil or oregano for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Stir in the diced green bell pepper, pizza sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until everything is heated through.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat and sauce mixture, then gently fold in 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and ½ of the sliced pepperoni.

Transfer the pasta mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and the rest of the pepperoni slices.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or oregano if desired.
