Ingredients

1 cup orzo pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups vegetable broth (or chicken broth)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Orzo: In a saucepan, bring the vegetable broth to a boil. Add the orzo and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and golden, being careful not to burn it.

Combine Ingredients: Add the cooked orzo to the skillet with the garlic. Stir to combine.

Add Cream and Cheese: Pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously. Once mixed, gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.

Season: Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if you're using them. Mix well to ensure the orzo is coated with the sauce.

Finish with Zest: Just before serving, stir in the lemon zest for a fresh zing, and remove from heat.

Garnish and Serve: Serve warm, garnished with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
