Ingredients

4 cups strong white bread flour, plus extra for dusting

1 ½ teaspoons salt

1 ½ teaspoons instant yeast

1 ½ tablespoons olive oil

1 ½ cups lukewarm water (around 100°F or 38°C)

1 teaspoon sugar (optional, for yeast activation)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the strong white bread flour and salt. Mix well.

In a separate bowl or jug, combine the lukewarm water, instant yeast, and sugar (if using). Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil.

Using a wooden spoon or your hands, gradually mix the flour into the liquid until it comes together in a shaggy dough.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. If it's sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.

Shape the dough into a ball and place it into a lightly oiled bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Once risen, punch the dough down to release the air. Knead it briefly and divide it into 2-4 equal portions, depending on how large you want your pizzas.

Dust a work surface with flour, and roll out each portion into your desired thickness; remember, it will rise again while baking!

Preheat your oven to the highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.

Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a piece of parchment paper or a floured pizza peel, ready to add your toppings.

Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven, allow it to cool slightly, slice, and enjoy your homemade pizza!
