Ingredients

2 slices of rye bread

4 oz corned beef, sliced

2 oz Swiss cheese, shredded

2 tbsp sauerkraut, drained

2 tbsp Russian or Thousand Island dressing

1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

Start by preheating your grill or a skillet over medium heat.

Spread the softened butter on one side of each slice of rye bread. This will ensure a crispy, golden crust.

On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, spread 1 tablespoon of Russian or Thousand Island dressing evenly.

Layer the corned beef on top of the dressing, followed by the sauerkraut, and then the Swiss cheese.

Spread the remaining tablespoon of dressing on the unbuttered side of the other slice of bread and place it on top of the sandwich, dressing side down.

Carefully place the sandwich on the preheated grill or skillet, buttered side down.

Grill the sandwich for about 4-5 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.

Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula and grill the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

Once done, remove from heat and let it sit for a minute before slicing in half.

Serve warm, with extra dressing on the side if desired.
