Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced ham (smoked or honey-baked works well)

1 cup buttermilk

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed throughout the dry ingredients.

In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk and melted butter, mixing well. If using, add the honey for a hint of sweetness.

Pour the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until a soft dough forms. Take care not to overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.

Spoon the biscuit dough into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Pour any remaining melted butter over the top, ensuring the dough is generously covered.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Before serving, sprinkle with fresh chopped chives for an extra pop of flavor.

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve warm in the baking dish or cut them into squares and arrange on a decorative platter. Drizzle with extra melted butter or serve with a side of honey mustard for dipping.
