Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham (or smoked turkey if preferred)

¾ cup whole milk

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham to the dry ingredients, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.

In a separate bowl, mix the milk and melted butter together until combined.

Pour the milk and butter mixture into the flour mixture, stirring gently with a wooden spoon or spatula until just combined. The dough should be lumpy; do not overmix.

Spoon the biscuit dough into the prepared baking dish, spacing them evenly.

In a small saucepan, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Once melted, spoon it evenly over the tops of the biscuit dough.

Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and let cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
