Ingredients

1 cup dried hibiscus flowers

4 cups water

1 cup fresh pineapple chunks (frozen or fresh)

1 ripe banana

1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup coconut milk (or almond milk for a lighter option)

1/2 cup ice cubes

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Make Hibiscus Tea: In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the dried hibiscus flowers and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Strain the tea: After simmering, remove from heat and strain the mixture into a bowl or pitcher, discarding the flowers. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature or refrigerate it until cold.

Blend the Smoothie: In a blender, combine 1 cup of the cooled hibiscus tea, pineapple chunks, banana, honey or agave syrup, coconut milk, and ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Taste and Adjust: Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness by adding more honey or agave syrup if desired. Blend again briefly to mix.

Serve: Pour the smoothie into chilled glasses. Optionally, garnish each smoothie with a sprig of fresh mint.
