Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a medium bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Reserve 1/4 cup of this marinade for later. Add the chicken breasts to the bowl, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for better flavor).

Prepare the Pan: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, remove the chicken from the marinade and shake off excess liquid. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook the Chicken: Place the chicken in the skillet and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).

Add the Sauce: Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet with the cooked chicken. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry, then add it to the skillet. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken and coat the chicken.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the chicken from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve the honey garlic chicken hot over rice or with steamed vegetables.
