Ingredients

1 pound chicken tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Vegetable oil for frying

1/4 cup honey

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken tenders, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.

Prepare the Breading: In a shallow bowl, set up your breading station. Place the all-purpose flour in one bowl, the panko breadcrumbs in another, and season the breadcrumbs with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper if using.

Bread the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. First, dip each tender into the flour, coating evenly, then into the egg wash (make sure to have an egg wash of 1 beaten egg mixed with a tablespoon of water on hand), and finally into the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Fry the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot (around 350°F), add the chicken tenders in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a separate saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer, and then gradually stir in the cornstarch mixture. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Coat the Chicken: Place the crispy chicken tenders in a large bowl, pour the honey garlic sauce over them, and toss gently to coat.

Serve: Serve the Honey Garlic Crispy Chicken Tenders immediately, drizzled with additional sauce if desired, and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
