Ingredients

2 teaspoons matcha green tea powder

1 cup milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)

2 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup hot water (not boiling)

1/2 cup ice cubes

A pinch of sea salt (optional)

Whipped cream (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Start by preparing the matcha: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with hot water until smooth and no lumps remain. You can use a traditional bamboo whisk or a small frother.

In a separate bowl, dissolve the brown sugar in a minimal amount of hot water, stirring until completely dissolved. This creates a brown sugar syrup.

In a glass, add the brown sugar syrup at the bottom.

Fill the glass with ice cubes up to about ¾ full.

Pour the prepared matcha over the ice, followed by the milk of your choice. You can adjust the ratio of milk to matcha based on your preference.

If desired, add a pinch of sea salt for added flavor depth.

Stir gently to combine all the layers.

If you're feeling indulgent, top with whipped cream before serving.
