Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

3/4 cup warm water (110°F)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 egg (for egg wash)

Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir in the active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, oregano, and salt.

Add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Fold in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese, ensuring it's evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide.

Twist each strip to form spirals and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it on top of each breadstick for a golden finish.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden and cooked through.

Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and let cool slightly before serving.
