Ingredients

1 lb ground Italian sausage

1 lb ground turkey or beef

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

2 cups shredded provolone cheese

1 cup diced bell peppers (red, green, yellow)

1 cup diced red onion

1/2 cup sliced black olives

1 cup marinara sauce

1 package of refrigerator crescent roll dough

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the ground Italian sausage and ground turkey. Cook until browned and thoroughly cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Stir in the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes to blend the flavors.

Add the diced bell peppers, red onion, and olives to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

Remove the skillet from heat and mix in the marinara sauce until well combined.

Roll out the crescent roll dough onto a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, pressing it down to cover the bottom of the pan fully and creating a slight edge for the filling.

Layer the cooked sausage mixture evenly over the crescent dough in the baking dish.

Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese over the mixture, ensuring even coverage.

Take the remaining dough from the crescent rolls and lay it over the top of the cheese, gently sealing the edges.

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Once baked, let the dish cool for about 5 minutes before slicing into squares.

Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving, if desired.
