Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)

2 teaspoons salt

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat if desired)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Optional: ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped (for added flavor)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center, then pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.

Using a wooden spoon, mix until a dough begins to form. Add the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, and onion powder, mixing until fully incorporated.

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm area for 1 to 1 ½ hours or until it has doubled in size.

After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and knead it briefly. You can mix in fresh cilantro here if desired.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Cover with the damp cloth again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

                      Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes | Servings: 1 loaf (8 servings)

                        - Presentation Tips: Slice the bread and serve it warm with a pat of butter or olive oil drizzle. For a vibrant touch, sprinkle extra chopped jalapeños or cilantro on top.
