1 pound ground pork sausage

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1-2 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions
 

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped jalapeños, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and fresh cilantro (if using).

    Using your hands, mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Ensure the cheese and jalapeños are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

      Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.

        Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the sausage patties, making sure not to overcrowd the pan (you may need to work in batches).

          Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach a golden brown color and are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F).

            Once cooked, transfer the patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
