Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons brown sugar

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece ginger, grated

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon gochujang (Korean chili paste) – adjust for spiciness

2 green onions, sliced

1 cup broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Fresh cilantro leaves (for garnish)

Optional: fried egg for topping

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and gochujang. Add the sliced flank steak and toss to coat. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight in the fridge for more flavor).

Cook the Vegetables: In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and sliced red bell pepper, stir-frying for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the marinated beef along with the marinade. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the beef is browned and cooked through, stirring frequently to ensure even cooking.

Combine: Once the beef is cooked, add the sautéed vegetables back to the skillet. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through. Stir in the sliced green onions right before taking it off the heat.

Serve: Divide the cooked jasmine rice into bowls. Top each bowl with the beef and vegetable mixture. Sprinkle sesame seeds over each bowl and garnish with fresh cilantro. Optionally, place a fried egg on top for added richness.
