Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/4 cup cream cheese, cold and cubed

1/4 cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Extra granulated sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a food processor, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Pulse to mix. Add the cold butter and cream cheese, and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the milk and vanilla extract together. Slowly add this to the flour mixture, pulsing until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

Chill the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and form it into a disc. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Roll and Fold: After chilling, lightly flour your work surface again. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Make sure to keep the edges as straight as possible for even folding.

Add the Filling: Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Fold the Dough: Starting from one short end, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal. Next, fold it in half to create a croissant shape and make sure the filling is securely inside.

Slice and Shape: Cut the log into individual segments (about 1-2 inches wide), then gently reshape them into half-moon croissants.

Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the croissant cookies on the prepared baking sheet.

Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush a thin layer over the croissant cookies. Sprinkle a little extra sugar on each for added sweetness and crunch.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Prep Time: 1 hour | Total Time: 1 hour 30 mins | Servings: 8-10 croissants

                        - Presentation Tips: Arrange the croissants on a beautiful platter dusted with powdered sugar for a touch of elegance. Serve warm for the best experience!
