Ingredients

1 large green cabbage

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Cabbage: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the whole cabbage and gently place it in the boiling water. Blanch for about 5-7 minutes, until the outer leaves are tender. Remove the cabbage and let it cool.

Make the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked rice, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped onion, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Stuff the Cabbage: Once the cabbage is cool enough to handle, carefully peel off the outer leaves (about 10-12 leaves). Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the meatball mixture into the center of each leaf. Roll the leaf tightly, folding the sides over to encase the filling. Repeat until the meat mixture is all used.

Prep for Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom. Arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish and cover with the remaining marinara sauce. Drizzle with olive oil.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes. Uncover for the last 10 minutes to slightly brown the tops.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your hearty Meatball Stuffed Whole Cabbage Delight!
