Ingredients

8 slices of whole wheat bread

4 slices of Swiss cheese

4 slices of turkey breast

4 slices of ham

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup breadcrumbs (optional for crunch)

Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Maple syrup (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.

Lay out 4 slices of whole wheat bread and spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on each slice.

On 2 of the slices, layer 2 slices of Swiss cheese, followed by 2 slices of turkey and 2 slices of ham. Top with the remaining cheese and place the other slices of bread on top to create two sandwiches.

If using breadcrumbs, dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak slightly. Then roll the sandwich in breadcrumbs for added texture. If not using breadcrumbs, simply dip the sandwich in the egg mixture.

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little butter or oil. Carefully place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

Once cooked, remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute. Slice the sandwiches in half diagonally.

If desired, dust with a little powdered sugar for sweetness and serve with maple syrup on the side for dipping.
