Ingredients

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark)

Sea salt flakes, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until fully combined and smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Integrate Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, folding until just combined. Do not over-mix.

Form the Cookies: Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.

Make Indentations: Use your thumb or the back of a measuring spoon to create an indentation in the center of each cookie ball.

Add Chocolate Chips: Place a few chocolate chips into each indentation of the dough.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked; they will firm up as they cool.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes on top of each cookie before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
