Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 green bell pepper, finely chopped

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup beef broth

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded provolone cheese

4 hamburger buns

Olive oil for cooking

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

Cook the Veggies: Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they soften. If using mushrooms, add them now and cook for another 3 minutes.

Add the Meat: Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Season the Mixture: Once the meat is cooked, mix in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

Add Liquid Ingredients: Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

Incorporate Cream Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the softened cream cheese, mixing until fully incorporated and creamy.

Melt the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Prepare the Buns: While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the hamburger buns under a broiler or on a pan until golden brown.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon the Philly cheesesteak mixture generously onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Garnish: Top with fresh parsley and place the top half of the bun over the filling.

Serve: Enjoy your delicious Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes while hot!
