Ingredients

1 loaf of Italian bread (preferably unsliced)

1 cup sliced pepperoni

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Carefully slice the Italian bread horizontally into 1-inch thick slices, making sure not to cut all the way through the bottom. You want the loaf to stay intact.

In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well.

Spread the butter mixture evenly between the slices of bread, making sure to get it into all the crevices.

Stuff pepperoni slices and shredded mozzarella cheese between each bread slice generously. You can also sprinkle some Parmesan cheese for extra flavor.

Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to achieve a crispy crust.

Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with fresh chopped basil for a burst of freshness.

Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping, pulling apart each slice to enjoy the gooey, cheesy, pepperoni goodness.
