Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 large onion, sliced

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

2-3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked white rice or fried rice (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to coat. Allow it to marinate for about 15 minutes while you prep other ingredients.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat until shimmering.

Cook the Steak: Add the marinated steak to the hot skillet in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Sear for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned and crispy. Remove the cooked steak from the pan and set aside.

Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir in the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until they begin to soften.

Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, stirring continuously for about a minute until fragrant.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked steak to the skillet and pour in the oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, black pepper, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine all the ingredients, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat. Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve the sizzling pepper steak over a bed of freshly cooked white rice or fried rice.
