Ingredients

2 boneless ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Shaved Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

Season the Steaks: Season the ribeye steaks generously with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.

Sear the Steaks: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness. Remove the steaks from the pan and set aside on a plate.

Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings: Pour in the crushed tomatoes, and stir in the oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, and balsamic vinegar. Mix well and bring the sauce to a simmer, cooking for about 10-15 minutes until slightly thickened.

Combine and Cook: Return the steaks to the skillet, covering them with the tomato sauce. Let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Final Touch: Check the seasoning and adjust with more salt or pepper if necessary.
