Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

Salt and pepper to taste

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.

Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper. Place them in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour half of the honey mixture over the chicken, ensuring that it is well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for deeper flavor).

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it in the prepared baking dish, discarding the used marinade. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

While the chicken is baking, pour the reserved marinade into a saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth, then add it to the boiling marinade. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.

Once the chicken is done baking, drizzle the thickened sauce over the chicken thighs, then return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes to glaze them.

Remove the sticky honey chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the chicken and drizzle any remaining sauce over the top.

Garnish with sliced green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds for added texture.
