to tasteLettuce, tomato, and avocado slices for toppings
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, crushed pineapple, teriyaki sauce, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, salt, and chopped green onions.
Mix all the ingredients together until well blended but be careful not to overmix, as this can make the patties tough.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick.
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Once hot, lightly grease the grill or skillet with non-stick spray or a little oil.
Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side, or until you see grill marks.
Flip the patties carefully and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Toast the whole wheat buns on the grill or in a toaster just until golden.
Assemble the burgers by placing a turkey patty on each bun and topping it with lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices.
Notes
Be careful not to overmix the patties to keep them tender.
