Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

2 cups granulated sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

4 large eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tablespoon red food coloring

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)

1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, mixing until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

Add Color: Stir in the red food coloring until the batter has a vibrant red hue. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Prepare Cream Cheese Swirl: In a separate bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter.

Swirl it Together: Using a knife or a skewer, gently swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter to create a marbled effect. Be careful not to mix too much.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few crumbs (but not wet batter).

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper (if used) and let them cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve!
