Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)

1 medium onion, diced

1/2 green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

Fresh parsley or cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the ground beef (or turkey), breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Cook until no longer pink (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add diced onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.

Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.

Reduce heat to low and add ketchup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

Allow the mixture to simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

While the mixture simmers, lightly toast the hamburger buns if desired.

Serve the sloppy joe mixture on the toasted buns and garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro if you like.

                Enjoy your delicious Sloppy Joes!
