Ingredients

2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon butter

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

1 egg (beaten)

1 cup vanilla ice cream

1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and butter. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples are soft. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll Out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out creases. Cut it into 4 squares.

Fill the Pastry: Place a generous spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each pastry square. Be careful not to overfill.

Seal the Turnovers: Fold the pastry over to create a triangle. Press the edges together with your fingers, and then use a fork to crimp and seal them properly.

Brush with Egg: Brush the tops of the turnovers with the beaten egg to give them a shiny finish.

Bake: Place the turnovers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and puffed.

Serve: Allow the turnovers to cool slightly before serving. Place one warm turnover on each plate, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream beside it, and drizzle with caramel sauce.

Garnish (Optional): Dust with powdered sugar for an elegant touch.
