Ingredients

For the Wontons:

1 pound ground pork

1/4 pound shrimp, peeled and chopped

1/4 cup finely chopped green onions

1/4 cup water chestnuts, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon ginger, minced

Wonton wrappers (about 30)

For the Soup:

8 cups chicken broth

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

2 cups bok choy, chopped

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

1 teaspoon white pepper

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Chili oil, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Make the Wontons:

    - In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onions, water chestnuts, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. Mix well until the ingredients are well incorporated.

      - Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water and fold it into a triangle, pressing to seal. Bring the two corners of the triangle together to form a little pouch, and seal again. Repeat until all the filling is used.

        Prepare the Soup:

          - In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

            - Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and white pepper.

              - Add the chopped bok choy and sliced mushrooms, allowing them to cook for about 2-3 minutes until just tender.

                Cook the Wontons:

                  - Gently drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until the wontons float to the surface and are cooked through.

                    Serve:

                      - Ladle the soup and wontons into bowls, garnish with fresh cilantro, and drizzle with chili oil if desired.

                        Enjoy:

                          - Serve hot and savor the delightful flavors of your homemade wonton soup!
