Ingredients

16 oz (450g) cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup mini chocolate chips (or diced fresh fruits for a fruity twist)

½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

1 tablespoon lemon zest (optional for added freshness)

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and creamy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Add the vanilla extract and lemon zest (if using) to the cream cheese mixture and mix until combined.

Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until fully blended into the batter.

Gradually add the flour and pinch of salt, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the mini chocolate chips (or diced fresh fruits) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).

Remove from the oven and allow the squares to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully.

Once cooled, cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar before serving for a touch of elegance.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 55 minutes | Servings: 12-16 squares

                        - Presentation Tips: Arrange the cream cheese squares on a colorful platter and add fresh berries or mint leaves around the edges for added color.
